To provide some personal experience, I wear a size 38 shoe with narrow feet, and I own both size 38 and 39 Merry People boots. The size 38 boots have a snug feel NS there is no extra space between the toe and the front of the shoe. This means that wearing very thick socks with these boots might not be possible. 

On the other hand, the size 39 boots have a roomier fit overall, allowing me to wear them comfortably with thick socks and even an insole. 

Both the rubber and neoprene materials used in Merry People boots have some elasticity, so there is a slight stretch to the gumboots. Initially, they may feel a bit tight, but over time, they will mold to the shape of your foot, ensuring a super comfortable fit.

I have also experimented with adding or removing the insole when fitting half sizes. This adjustment can help fine-tune the fit to your preference and ensure optimal comfort.
