Nestled amongst the gum trees and strawberry fields of the Yarra Valley you will find a quaint little 10-acre lavender farm by the name of Warratina Lavender Farm. With beautifully manicured gardens, picnic areas and tea rooms, it’s a beautiful destinations for families.
You can visit the gardens throughout the year or on one of their specialist weekends, dog days or woodworking festivals. Celebrate the 30th Warratina Lavender Festival 2024 on the weekend of 9 – 10 November.
The Lavender Festival is on the weekend of Saturday 9 November and Sunday 10 November 2024.
The lavender festival runs over two days mid November every year and is a spectacle for the senses. A craft market lines the driveway with local lavender themed wares, delicious food on offer and even a cheeky alpaca or two.
Enjoy rows of blooming lavender, live music, craft demonstrations, and delicious food. Bring the kids for entertainment and face painting while shopping at the market.
There is an abundance of choice of delicious meals and canapes available at the tea rooms, as well as wood-fired pizzas and Devonshire teas on offer.
The major drawcard of course is the rows of lavender. Perfect for that Instagram worthy shot, to test your variety knowledge or just to run through, skimming the blossom.
Plus get 10% off any purchases from the on-farm shop!
Over the two day festival, you will find entertainment such as bagpipers, Irish dancing, acoustic duos & belly dancers. Most of the entertainment happens in the afternoon, so be mindful when picking your tickets this year as they are split into separate morning and afternoon timeslots.
We thoroughly enjoy the tastings and exploring the grounds, learning about how the products are picked, dried and consumed.
There are several lavender fields to view, as well as extensive gardens and raspberry cane rows, just perfect for the picking. (This is an additional cost).
If you are looking for a high energy festival with lots of rides and activities for the kids, this is not the festival for you. However, if picnics in the picturesque Yarra Valley with family and a beautiful slow-moving day out are more your thing, then we would totally recommend Warratina.
The Lavender Farm is open all year round for visitors, not just during the festival. From 10 am-4 pm February to September entry is FREE, but the time to come is absolutely for the lavender blossom from October through to January and the cost is $10 per adult. Children under 14 years are free.
